Hold onto the letter and wait - it might be 60 or 90 days - I don't know how often Gulf States reports. If you are in a hurry, you can try after 30 days, but I would be patient if you can.

Then, if the account is still there, send a copy of the letter and the enveloped it came in (proof that you didn't create the document yourself) along with a dispute letter requesting deletion, to the credit bureaus.

They should remove it, but if they don't let us know. ;)

Do everything by certified return receipt mail, keep everything.

Several state AG's are on GS case now, maybe they will slow them down a little.
