In general, bankruptcy will "improve" your credit more than settlements. You cannot refile for 6 years for bankruptcy, so your future creditors have a "safer" risk. Many employers where bonding or licensing is required will insist on a "clearing" of debts and judgements before they will hire you.A discharged bankruptcy gets rid of the risk of liens and garnishment. In addition, the money you save by not having to throw it to the collection wolves will allow you to start over, pay as you go,and reestablish your credit.
