Let them make their idle threats, fact is.. if any debt collector was to take money from your account you would be better off. Reason being, the FDCPA states clearly that if a debt collector takes money from your accout without your consent, they are subject to a 5K fine. while this may not help you directly... the collection company would not only refund the $$, they would then bend over backwards to help you resolve the manner, all this just to prevent you from pushing the issue with the FTC, or state attorney general.
