Thank you! I will look for Linda's posts. My credit counselor suggested basically the same thing... use only written correspondences and let him handle the rest. The bank did look back through my records to confirm I had been making payments, so that part at least is cleared up. I'm going to be keeping a very close eye on my credit reports from now on and keep every little item regarding the bastards as GS.
I did finally discover that the reason they are so demanding with trying to get people to settle the debt immediantly without monthly payments is that the agent handling the debt gets a nice fat bonus for it. No wonder they hate me. I never could have paid the debt off.
