Get Payment arrangements in Writing?

Hi All,
You have been so helpful with poor folks like us! Thanks VERY much. Could you help me with this? I have been paying on a debt via collection agency for 7 months and at the very start they refused to put our arrangement in writing. I told them that in the past I have had no problem aquiring this and a legitimate agency should have no problem with this. After reading posts here, and getting some opinions from others, I have been told that I am not protecting myself very well and I should not be sending them money without something to show for it. They also have not sent me receipts (I have mine) after each payment reflecting my new balance with them. I was scared before and I wanted to do what was right, but I think I'm being taken for a ride here. Should I demand something in writ form? Do I have a right to do so? National Financial Systems are the culprits here, anyone know who they are? I can't find ANYTHING on them. Thanks everyone. -S.
