Mary, I just paid off an old debt this morning. It was apearing on my credit report. The original amount was $446.19, they settled for $321.34. They also said that they would report is as "paid". They did say that they do not report as "settled" or "settled with a loss". Hope that helps. I also find that just paying it in full if you can financially afford that is great for the peace of mind.
