After getting advice from people on this forum and from my own research, the best thing to do is to send a request, certified mail with reciept (right guys?)for proof of the debt and any other information.
As far as where to send it... I have four addresses and over a dozen phone numbers. These people are relentless and extremely rude! So far, they have refused to release any information to me, so I am using one of the letter templates I was directed to that Linda has set up. I'm going to post the address, I hope that's okay Linda?

After all my bitching in the last two weeks, Gulf State sent a letter stating all the "you owe, this an attempt to collect..." yada yada yada.

Just to note.. that 800 number is that same one give for the Atlanta and Duluth GA offices and for the Tempe AZ office... Supposedly, according to the BBB the Atlanta/Duluth is the official office
