Authorized User vs. Joint holder for credit card

If I am only an authorized user on a credit card can I ask for verification from the CRA that I am not responsible for the account based on the fact that I never signed a contract with them - the primary card holder did? My thoughts say that they will not be able to produce any document with my signature on it. And how bad does the mark on my credit look as an authorized user vs joint? The same? Anyone have information about this - or had this problem?
