They can report what ever they like; it is your responsibility to make sure the information is correct. Question #1 I personally would not change it, if nothing else it shows a longer history, which I see as a plus. A shorter history would make it look as though you intentionally defaulted on the contract. Question #2 Yes, they can report the information at any time. While Fair Credit Reporting Act assumes that they will report as soon as possilbe, this is not the truth. Many creditors, expecially gas cards do not report to the credit bureau until you force them to, or you go seriously delinquent on your account. Some never report!
