It depends on what they were for.
IRS can audit you for 3 years back,so keep receipts and records from itemized stuff.Keep records of home improvements or items under warranty until you sell your home or the warranty period is over. Keep any credit card statements prior to and after any change in terms (like interest) Keep ALL bills,bank statements and records for 1 year,always have at least one entire year of all records available.
