Post bankruptcy checking account

I have filed for bankruptcy and I'm wondering when and if I'll ever be able to open a new checking account. I called several banks and they said I wouldn't be able to open an account but they didn't say if I ever could in the future. Does anyone know if I'm doomed to be checkless for ten years? Thanks.
