Technically that is correct but some may file in the courts hoping you will not respond so they cannot get a default judgement. You should save any documents you have. And if, by chance, they file suit you must respond. You can argue that the SOL has expired for the creditor to bring action against you and also point out that they waited for years to file a suit against you. Has a suit been filed against you? If so, you must file your answer with the court.
