Ceasing communication - Oregon

In section 805 of the Fair Debt Collection Practices it states that communication by telephone must be stopped after written request is made.
There used to be an ammendment for this section for the state of Oregon stating that the request does not have to be made in writing, it can made made verbally over the phone. Am I incorrect or am I just looking in the wrong places?
