I have some credit issues that stem mostly from the year 1999. I recently paid off a student loan in september of 2001 that was defaulted. There are also a few other things I am taking care of. I am in the military, and am originally a New York resident. I have heard that in New York the Statute of Limitations is 5 years instead of 7. Does that mean that the SOL begins its time in 1999 (Going until 2004), or in 2001? (Going until 2006?) considering that it really will be taken off my credit in five years? I will be out of the military in a little over a year, and would like to use the Veterans Assistance loan to get a house of $25,000 value with a $10,000 down payment, and would like to do the best I can to fix what I have left.
