This collection agency sounds scummy. In the past, I was successfully able to negotiate with a different agency to remove the tradeline entirely for payment of debt. Would you suggest that Mike contact Inovision and tell them that he will pay IF they remove the tradline entirely? Wouldn't that fix his problem faster than going through the dispute process?
