Find a smart divorce attorney who knows a lot about equitable distribution of assets. The fact that your X wants to purchase a 250K home may or may not work to your benefit - he may have to split it with you. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING JOINTLY THOUGH. As far as x being able to buy house while married - I believe so but the state you live in may have specific laws. As far as you're concerned, if you are currently beginning divorce proceedings you should not be making any major purchases or sales for that matter. Sit tight!
