Hi Lara. Have you been contacted by any collection agencies? I ask because you can usually negotiate the removal of charge-offs (or at least have them change the status to "Paid as agrees") when dealing with collection agencies. I would suggest contacting the creditors to find out if they have sold the accounts to collection agencies or not. With those types of balances, I'm sure that you'll be hearing from someone soon enough. It really doesn't help your score to have a "charge-off" change to "paid charge-off"... it's just as negative. Again, pay the debts BUT ONLY with a written agreement to remove the negative remarks. If they want their money, they'll comply. Good luck. MOE
