I have recently discovered while applying for a home mortgage that Equifax, Experian and Trans Union are posting another persons account information on my credit report. This other person has the same first and last name and middle initial. We do not have the same SS# or date of birth, but the reporting agencies are not checking these items before putting them under my report. There are 12 incorrect items including a bankruptcy, reposession, and multiple unpaid accounts. My credit is excellent, and because of this, I am unable to get a home mortgage at the interest rate I deserve until this is cleared up. I have now also just lost the house I wanted because I am having to spend my time fixing their problem. Do I have any legal recourse? Can I sue all of these companies or are there any class action lawsuits against them? How are they getting away with this?????
