Can a chiropractor collect a debt if my income is SDI & SSDI

I saw a chiropractor at the end of March 2000. I told her that I was on SDI, but my employer intended to cut the income on April 7, 2000. She refused to take the insurance that I had and said that she would not charge me until I got well and returned to work. She demanded that I use an attorney she knows for my appeal. When I told her that I had my own attorney, she told me that I couldn't be her patient and refused to see me. She then started billing me. I paid whatever I could and sent her financial hardship letters. In October 2000, my employer refused to pay me anything. I finally got social security disability and had no more money to pay her after Sept 2001. She is now suing me in small claims court. She will not make a settlement with my attorney. Can she win?
