Credit card debt

Hi, I'm a foreigner and will be finished studying in a university here in the US this summer. I have a couple of credit cards (A.E. and Citibank), I got them while I was started studying a few years ago. I have a total balance of ~$7,500. I need to return to my home country soon, can I ignore those money that I owed? Can they come after me in my home country? I have no intention of returning to the US, I know my credit here will be ruined but will it affect me in my home country? Thanks!
