Your first mistake was making an agreement to pay with Gulfstate to begin with. How old is/was your original debt? With whom? This is one of the worst ever bottom feeding CA's there is. Unfortunately, any payments you make with Gulfstate will not help your credit. I would not make anymore payments to them whatsoever. And any correspondence you do with them should be in writing sent by certified mail, return receipt for documentation (they are well-trained in not telling the truth). Maybe your best bet would be to deal through an attorney who specializes in debtor/creditor settlements and who should have the knowledge to have this removed from your credit report permanently.
