Well telling you you could be thrown in jail was against the law. You may want to consider legal action if you can prove that. However, Bankruptcy does not usually relieve student loans. Unless you had been paying on them for several years. Your best bet is to contact the loan servicer and work out some kind of deal.. You may be eligible for Forebarence or deferment.
