Didn't you get an written estimate from the company prior to work "supposedly" being done? You should have followed up on this matter long before in writing. You could try writing to the manager/owner of the company - but I doubt at this point it would accomplish anything. You could also try the BBB. In some states a business has to be licensed so that is another avenue to pursue. However, the fact that you waited so long and "figured" they lost yours won't help you much.
