Auto Loans / Statute of limitations / Liens

I have a car loan that no activity has occured for over 6 years and in my state (Kansas) exceeds the debt statute of limitations.

However, there was a co-signer on the loan and the title still has a lien on it. I have contacted to creditor to ask to resolve the issue and has returned a settlement bill of more than I paid for the car.

Since this debt is so old and there has been no communication between the debtor and I for the past six years. I am tempted to claim this debt as past the Statute of Limitations, however I do not wish to jeopordize the credit rating of the co-signer.

Any thoghts, comments and suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thank you,

James
