I don't think it would hurt anything. However, I think your best bet is to just wait them out. When the SOL is up, you can do anything you want to do except agree to pay them. In the meantime, I would keep a low profile, stay out of their line of sight, don't attract their attention. If they start in on you again, then ask for proof the account is your and a detailed account history. But ask for one thing at a time, so you use up all their time between now and April. You just want to stay out of court until April 1.
