However, I find it confusing that you say she was "laid off" when she was an officer of the company. Principles and officers can get fired, and they can resign, and partners can sell out or quit, but I don't think they can get laid off, since their status is more than that of "employee."

Whatever, the CCC is going after their money wherever they think they can get it. She should probably talk to a lawyer.
