Someone posted a site that shows information that shows the Statute of Limitations is the state you live in, not the state where the contract/bank is located. I have searched everywhere and can't locate it. I have a card that states in the contract that the laws of Rhode island and Federal law apply. I live in Arizona where my states (sol) is 3 years. I just received a call from an attorneys office stating I owe on this debt. I told them the Statute of Limitations had expired. They informed me that the Statute of Limitations on this account falls under Rhode Island law. I showed my employer's attorney my original contract and he said that it falls under Rhode Island law. I told him that I belived he was wrong. He said that it's clearly spelled out that I signed an agreement that falls under Rhode Island law.... Please, please, please guide me to the legal site that shows it's my state (sol) that applies. I work 45 hours during the week and 7 on the weekends. I clean houses for a living and don't make enough money. I'm scared that I may loose my car if I get sued. Please help. I'm so nervous at what Ive gotten myself into. He said he'll help me if I get the info that shows Arizona law applies. I ve never left arizona since I signed the agrement. thank you for your help..
