Great idea! Side effect will be that CRA's will probably place a fraud alert on your file (good thing in this case) you will not be able to view your reports online, and in order to extend you new credit, lenders will have to go through an ID verification process (theoretically - real life victims of ID theft say that they ignore these procedures and continue to issue cards without extensive verifying).
