Linda, you need to gather all your documents and be ready to head for the court house, I mean the small claim department. Write chase a nice letter stating your case and asking them to have the credit bureau delete the information from your file (He who reports to the credit bureau can also have information removed). Your letter will inform them in no uncertain term that you consider their report to the bureau defamation of character. Such language will qualify your letter for a review by the legal department which will advise the hard head at consumer credit that their lawyers have better things to do with their time. The fact that your claim may have no merit is irrevelant. Just the threat is enought to work wonder. I know, because I tried just that, and I lost a collection entry from my record in 10 days after mailing my letter. The agency did not want to risk a lawsuit when they already got their money.
