Stuck and need help

I have posted this problem on other boards and gotten advice, but I am looking for every angle I can get on this. I had 2 MBNA accounts for several years. I hit some bad times and got behind on all bills. Every creditor worked with me and things are looking up. In Jan 01, I worked out a "hardship" plan on one of my MBNA accounts. I was going to settle the second one. Over the next couple of months, paid very little on this second account waiting for written confirmation of this settlement. Confirmation never came and I received a notice in April saying my account was going to be charged off. I responded reminding them of the settlement agreement and asked for this agreement to stand. The next thing I received was a notice from NCO (Collection agency). I wrote numerous letters to MBNA over the next few months offering settlements, payment plans and expressing my dissatifaction that this account was charged off this way. I got no response (and slap me, but I sent them all regular mail as I knew NOTHING about all this!!). In October 2001, I wrote to NCO....no response from them. Also in October, I used Planetfeedback to write to MBNA. This time, I received a letter from a vice president saying that the account was charged off in APRIL (over $6000). They also said that before April, they had not received any communication with me. They said I had set up a payment plan in March for the other account (it was really Jan). They said the account was SOLD to NCO. I wrote NCO again...no response. In Feb 2002, I called MBNA (trying to avoid calling because I wanted everything in writing). I talked to a man who very rudely told me that NCO owned the debt and would not say any more. I called NCO 10 minutes later and the lady there told me that NCO no longer has the account as they "turned it back to MBNA in October 01". I called MBNA back again and spoke to a man that would get back to me in 48 hours. Here it is March and he has not called back. I used pfb again and basically asked MBNA if ANYONE wants any money. I got another response from MBNA saying that the account was charged off on MAY 6, 2001 (previously letter said April 28th). The letter said that MBNA sold the account to NCO. They listed another address and phone number. The letter said that MBNA has responded to my concerns and enclosed the Oct letter as proof. The letter also says "Additionally, MBNA has thoroughly researched your concerns and considers this a closed matter". I called the number for NCO they gave me and it NOT a collection agency!! So, this is my question....WHAT DO I DO NOW??? NCO has sent me nothing. MBNA is listing the account as CO with $0 balance. Most people are telling me to wait and see what their next move is, but I really want to get a mortgage next spring and this account will have to be dealt with before then. Any advice is appreciated!!
