Has she been served with a summons to small claims court?
If not,then the "threat" to sue may be just a threat.
How long ago did she become delinquent on the account?
What State are you in?
She may be able to defend against a lawsuit, even if she owes the money if some years have past.
Is it the original creditor or a collecton agency?
Your joint account can not be touched if your name and ss # are primary. Each State has it's own laws on what can be attached AFTER a judgment is obtained.
