Paid Debt & Delinquencies

I have about a half dozen accounts that have been closed and are listed as delinquent even though I continue to pay on all of them -- none went to outside collection agencies. My question is, I may soon have the opportunity to pay all of these accounts in full. Even though my credit report is now in very bad condition due to their reporting of the delinquencies, how will my credit be viewed when the balances are listed as zero on all these accounts? Will I still have trouble getting credit (car loans, mortgages and another credit card). Will any of these companies remove these bad reports (I doubt it) but is it worth asking them? If all is ruined for the next few years, is it better to just settle with them rather than give them all the money or will this be worse? Thanks for answering all my concerns.
