Talk to the court clerk before you talk to the collection agency again. see if they actually have a case number and pull all the information on it. Then talk to a lawyer. It sounds like you are being had. Get all the documentation you can on this you are entitled to it. There is no way you should be paying that much on a $60 check. Do the leg work and you might catch them on something.
