Linda or why Chat - this is a very informative and well needed site. In the last month I have done much research and your site had proved to be the most helpful. Long story short. On 2-20 I received a collection letter from CAMCO out of Sycamaore Il. THey stated the ywere collecting a debt from CItibank and the amount owing is 12,900.00. I was shocked, first I have ever heard of such a thing, immediately phoned them..they stated this was a debt from 1989 that was paid on for three yers and then no payments where ever made again. I assured them it was not mine.
I asked them for proof and they stated they did not ahve that info. I have sent a 30 day and a 15 day validation letter. A cease and desist....I have filed a complaint with the BBB, the Attoney Generals office in Illinois and also in Michigan ( where I reside) and also the FTC and just recently the Illinois Departament of Regulation. I have not contacted an attorney yet....Just waiting....What is your opinion on this and ahs anyone else experienced the problems I have with Camco. The phone calls finally have stopped coming to my place of employnment. Last week the Operations Manager at Camco did leave a message on my home phone. Keep up the good work. Education is the key!!!!!
