I'm sure Florida's SOL has expired. However, 7 years has to have passed before it is removed from CRA - you still have a few more months to go + add another 1 or 2 for good measure. It is illegal for CRA's to report charged-off debts that are older than 7 years. G.S. is a scum, sleazy CA that pays no attention to regulations. They are owned by OSI who has other similar agencies as well - they sometimes switch between these agencies hoping the consumer will bend to their scare tactics (other agencies are: Perimeter and Account Portfolio - both of which were fined for federal violations). Don't send anything to them other than a validation letter (that they must respond to in 30 days - no info, etc. Always send by certified mail, return receipt - you'll get green card back - or you can send by priority mail with delivery confirmation. You recent dispute prompted G.S. to contact you, BTW. After that you can send them a cease & desist letter........and finally get their info off the CRA's.
