None that I know of. Alot depends on what type of account, the amount, how long the debt has been delinquent, etc. Where do you live? What type of debt? How much? How long delinquent?
It's much better (if you can) to work with the original creditor before it gets sent to a debt collection - your credit will suffer considerably less. You can always search your states statutes regarding this (use Google, Overture, Ask Jeeves, etc.)
