A questyion about reaging

I have and old sears acct that was sold with a last activity date of 6/97, however they sold it to a collection agency in 1/98 and they collection agency is reporting 1/98 as both the opening and last activity date. Did they effectively reage this 1 yr and a half or does the original last activity date apply?
