The best thing you can do for your niece is to forget about the Amex account and her "credit rating". No matter what you do, her credit is gone. She needs help in getting her life in order,not her "credit rating" Any $$ you send to any collection agency is like throwing it down a rat hole.You can help her the most by finding out what she REALLY needs to get back on her feet. The first step, is for you to find the truth out about how she got into this fix.
