Thank you all for your quick response.....i have been reading both FCRA and FDCPA for awhile now, and I can't seem to find the answer to this question (legally) Is there maybe a state (calif) or federal law I can point out to them? I know they can not legally do this, because 2 people can not collect on 1 debt (tyhat would mean I owe twice the money, right?) Fortunately, it has not gone on my credit report, and I sent validation to the CA. The Doctor's Office sent a signed form I had (yet the debt they are claiming I owe is $150 for a missed doctors appointment, which I have marked on my calendar the date and time I cancelled the appointment ! This was over a year ago!) Anyway, the CA is in violation of FDCPA because they were the ones who are supposed to mail me validation, not the doctor's office....I just need to know if there is a law out there that prohibits "double collection" thanks, and in the meantime, I'll keep surfin the web for an answer!
