Cosigner, GOOD or BAD?

I have bad credit and I need a new place to live and I was wondering if anyone knows if co signing looks bad on you when your looking for a new apartment or to the manager. I have a family member to do it but should I explain or what exactly should I do? Will they be on my lease? Also, I live in my apartment now and I'm getting evicted for loud noise so will they call the people I rent from.? My rent and everything else has been fine.
I need help please let me know if if you have any answers.
