No. The besst way to set it straight is to go down to the courthouse and get certified copies of the file. See if his name is on there.

If it is not, send copies (with the seal visible) to the credit bureaus, with a dispute, that this judgment was not against him, and deman that they remove it immediately.

If his name is on there as a defendant, then look at the papers to see if they served him and where they say they served him - judgments can be vacated for no service - and look for a copy of any written agreement with his signature on it.

Whatever the answer is, it is in those papers.

Let us know what you find.

Tell hubby (he probably knows by now) that when someone needs a cosigner, it is because they have a history of not paying. Don't cosign unless you can pay, and are willing to pay it, if the other person doesn't.
