Help! - I can't figure this Judgement thing out?

I live in Texas. In 1993 a Judgement was rendered against me and my husband at the time. My husband and I were divorced in 1995 and under the decree he assumed all liability for the Judgement. He filed bankruptcy in 1999 and the Judgement was discharged. His bankruptcy attorney tells me that only he has been discharged from the debt and that I am still be on the hook for it even though he assumed all liability in our divorce decree. Does anyone have any experience with this type of situation? I am trying to refinance my house. This Judgement is causing me problems. My ex-husbands bankruptcy lawyer told me to contact the creditor (MNC Consumer Discount Company)to see if they would remove it. Ha ha. I can't even find out who or where MNC is. I'm sure MNC has been bought sold four or five times over. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
