Do medical collections have less of an impact on your credit score than say a credit card collection? I have several medical collections on my report. Some of them I have paid and some not. Should I make sure the ones I paid are marked as paid, or does it even matter? I have to do some correcting on it and am trying to pick the most important stuff to correct and I don't want to correct information that doesn't really matter just in case they think I have too many disputes and decide they are frivolous. They also have a previous address listed and I have never even lived in that state. I can't believe how many mistakes on the report there are. And what is worse is that I read that if you have bad credit anyway, they are less likely to help you fix the mistakes because they think you are attempting credit repair. I just want it to be correct, it is bad enough the way it is, I don't need errors making it look even worse. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Darry30 P.S. And what about bankruptcies? We filed in 96 and have since been discharged, now I realize those will stay on unil 2003 but some say they were charge offs when really it was bankruptcy. They may have charged them off instead of putting in a claim with the bankruptcy court, so how should they be listed?
