I recently made a list of inquiries that were on my Equifax report that I did not authorize. Many of them I have never even heard of the companies. Anyways, I sent Equifax the list and letter stating that these were not authorized, etc. and to please remove them. They sent me a letter back stating that "inquiries are a factual record of report access" so they said if I had a problem with one or more being on there to contact the company who put them on their directly. Ok, this is fine, I have no problem contacting the companies directly...however, I did this when I was clearing up my Experian report, and I would say 1 out of 10 actually took the inquiry off, the others just sent a standard form letter stating that they were allowed to look at my report for one reason or another. Then I realized that you can dispute inquiries on the Experian creditmanager website, which I did, and they were practically all removed after 30 days. Why is it Experian will investigate them but Equifax wont? Again, I have no problem sending letters to these companies, but its really useless to send it to them if they arent going to do anything. Furthermore, its not like I would take them to court for not removing an inquiry. I guess what I am asking is, is Equifax supposed to investigate these inquiries or no? thanks...
