Collection Agency--Info NEEDED!!!

I have recently been receiveing calls on an account that I last made a payment prior to 12/97. These charges were from PA but I recently moved to NY. I believe the credit report states the creditor as OSI but they use another name when calling. They recently started to call me at my aprents home this past month on a daily basis. Sometimes they call more often then 1 time a day. The amount they claim I owe is higher then what i see on the credit report. At first the CA was going to refuse to send me a letter with detailed information because htey said they had in the past. Is aid you just got in touch with me and now should send the material to my attention. The debt is for apx. $2000 and I fear they may take legal action. Do you think this may happen? Is there any way I can stall them through the year to make sure the SOL is up? Also, I was going to send them a cease letter because they are driving my mother nuts, would that make them want to take suit with me even more?
