Still trying to get MBNA to send me something, to let us know why we owe them!

Please let me know if there is some letter that I can send MBNA so they will let us know why we owe a debt to them on a crdit card that we did not know about.We were notified 8 months after they opened an account in my husband name and send a card to someone that did not the same address and phone# that is on is credit report account. All we hear is that we need to pay over 16,600+. The most we have ever had on a CR was around 5,000 and we paid that off in 3 months. We usually pay in full every month. This sure is hard to understand what to do. I feel like there is something we can do to get them to send us something. I enjoy this site but I hope I don't need it again if I can get this staighten out. We are too old to be going through this. Please help us!
