Hi, Linda, really appreciate your advice, I have a question, I saw in a post, where a guy was talking about a phone bill collection, you told him to check with his state utility commission on how long a phone bills SOL was,, Well I am in a situation, I have an collections item that was on my credit report ( Now its mysteryously gone as per last nite, I wonder why) anyway the charge off from bell south was 11/98, ( I went deliquent in 5/98) anyway the deliquency was in georgia now my address on my credit report is NY, back in the fall of 1998, the "lawyer for the CA, was calling my father all the time, and eventually sent the whole bill to my father,, ( which really pissed me off, get me in trouble with daddy at 30 yrs old) needless to say, the bill I eventually got from my father two yrs later was for 1,000 dollars,, my father never heard from them again,, they said they were gonna sue,, then last fall I pulled my report and they had the bill at 4,750 !!!!! I didnt contact them,, I dont live in NY, as a matter of fact, I dont even live in the USA, then I pull my report last nite,, and they are off it,, strange,,,, but I still cant sleep at nite, all I can think about is they are gonna sue me in NY without me their or knowing,, and get a judgement,, I will sleep better if I knew what SOL to use,, is a phone company bill a written contract like a loan ( they had it listed as a installment, which I found odd, a phone bill, isnt even a signed contract , let alone the same amount every month) or is a phone bill, an "open account" or does it have a special SOL,
after reading posts, I am scared that one day, they will come back to haunt me, especially if its in the next two years in NY ( 6yr SOL written and open)

can you pls tell me, I tried to look up on georgia and
NY attorney general, and utility commission web site, didnt find anything,, thank I want to sleep without the fear of the unknown,,, joanne
