I have been dealing with this guy for a month and he is an absolute dick! He threatens to sue me if I don't pay $500 down and $100 a month till my balance of $1900 is paid. I lost my job and I'm a single parent(a Dad) w/ 1 kid living with me and my other kid with his mom that I still support. My GF is a bill collector so she dealt with this guy for me because she knows more than I do about my choices and such. He agreed a month ago to let me get by with $100 down instead of the $500 and I wired it to him. It has not shown up on his computer. Now he wants me to pay $250 a month since I didn't pay the $500 down which he denies he agreed to. I told him all I could pay was a $100 a month because I was out of work. He says no, and he'll proceed with the lawsuit. No other choices but $250 a month. He keeps telling me that by me stating that I cannot make the $250 payments, I'm refusing to take care of this debt which is total BS! He knows I'm out of work. This is an old Discover Card debt that has since been sold to a collection agency. My credit is bad anyway now, so I don't really care about that right now. I cannot make these kind of payments, there's absolutely no way in hell! What are my options and how much of that is BS talk to scare me? What do I do? Like I stated earlier, I offered $100 a month, he said he'll take it, but still proceed with the lawsuit. BTW, I live in TX. Thank you. -Chris
