I've lived in FL since 1988 but prior to that I lived in NY and had bought stuff from Fingerhut. I haven't bought anything from them since moving to FL and haven't gotten any magazines, flyers, nothing. Got a notice post marked 2/2/02 from Gulf State Credit saying they purchased a past-due account in the amount of $217.85 from Fingerhut. It mentioned that if I sent a letter of dispute they would research it and let me know more about it. I did that and sent a letter on 2/7/02. I just got in the mail today another notice from Gulf State identical to the first--no answer to my request for research. My husband called and they were rude to him saying they wanted their money for something I bought back in 1990! I don't remember ever buying anything since moving to FL. I've never gotten anything from Fingerhut in the mail in the last 14 years I've lived here; no past due notices, etc. (why should I--I never bought anything)and now a collection company wants their money?? I don't know what else to do!
