Should I take the Settlement?

I have a credit card debt from 10 years ago (silly teenager). I owe approximately $750. I received a settlement request from a company whom the bank had sold the loan to. They are offering $220. What will the settlement do to my credit report? I have one charge off (still not sure what that means) and I'm trying to get a car loan and a first time home loan in the next year or so.
